Component Types

The Component Types feature allows you to define and categorize components with shared characteristics. For example, you can group all your electronics components under a common component type, such as "Electronics." This makes managing, organizing, and filtering components more efficient.

Adding New component types

Users can create the component type within the “Settings” menu(1). Upon clicking “Settings,” you can find the “Component types”(2) under “Workspace settings.” You have the “+”(3) on the right side, where the user can add the new component types.

Creating new component types - the user can create new component types within the settings menu

Note that currently the component types are workspace settings and all the component types in the workspaces will be seen in this panel.

Users can add a sub-component type to the parent component type. For example, the user can create a sub-component type such as “space-grade component” or “COTS” for sensors used in the satellite. While creating the component type, you can choose the parent (1). This will automatically create a sub-component type.

Adding Component type to the components

In the System Design module, go to the component you wish to add a component type to. Within the details section of the component, you can click under the “Component Type” area and add the pre-created component type of your choice.
